This is a digital map of the village and the wider area of Anogeia that offers useful information about the local points of interest in an innovative way.

Through rich photographic material and descriptive texts, visitors are able to extract information about the area’s attractions, such as their history, opening hours and how to access them. Moreover, the system suggests specific nature trails for the visitors to follow, while also providing useful information.

A unique system that presents in a particularly impressive way prominent personalities who have shaped the rich musical tradition of Anogeia.

Through archival photographs and keywords, presented in a continuous flow, visitors can extract interesting information concerning aspects of both their personal and professional career.

Of particular interest in the songs of Anogeia is the semiotic use of nature imagery, which conveys meanings of independence and freedom in an allegorical way. This interactive exhibit invites visitors to experience the unique character of the musical tradition of Anogeia.

Thus, through eight representative songs of Anogeia the authentic timbre of the region is revealed. At the same time, each song is accompanied by its lyrics, descriptive texts and rich audiovisual material, revealing the history and meaning behind each melody.

An application that highlights the art and sound of the traditional musical instruments of Anogeia, allowing visitors to live a truly unique musical experience.

Three physical musical instruments, a lyre, a lute and a mandolin, are presented in specially designed showcases embedding three digital screens. While interacting with the system, each showcase “comes to life“, by activating:

• the distinctive sound of each instrument incorporated into traditional musical compositions,
• the rotation of each instrument so that visitors can explore every detail of it, and
• the display of information regarding each instrument’s construction.

A system that presents madinadhes of Anogeia and the Cretan dialect in a unique and entertaining way. Madinadha is an integral part of the oral and musical tradition of Anogeia and their lyrics arise spontaneously, approaching different thematic areas, such as love, death, separation, etc.

The system enables visitors to read and listen to indicative madinadhes and excerpts from “Bulk Tunes”, as well as to entertain themselves through choice and matching mini-games in order to get familiar with the creation of madinadhes and the use of the Cretan dialect, a unique skill possessed by the inhabitants of Anogeia.

A system that allows visitors to experience the cultural events of the Anogeia region in a unique way and to feel that they become part of the tradition.

Through large projection surfaces, visitors have the opportunity to see, hear and read about the cultural events, customs and traditions taking place in Anogeia, such as Hyacinthia Festival, Sheep Shearing, “Ofto” meat, etc.

Through descriptive texts, images, videoclips and testimonies, visitors have the chance to deepen their knowledge and feel that they are actively participating in such cultural events. In fact, the system offers users the opportunity to view themselves integrated into natural landscapes of the Anogeia and take a digital snapshot, creating a personal souvenir, which they can send via email.

A unique system that brings visitors of the Center into contact with traditional Cretan dances in an experiential way, offering them an unrepeatable user experience.

Through the alternation of texts, images and videoclips, presented on a large projection surface with a concave shape, visitors have the opportunity to come into contact with six traditional Cretan dances (Anogeianos Pidihtos, Sighanos, Sousta, Syrto, Maleviziotis, Pendozalis) and delve deeper, gaining interesting information about them.

In fact, visitors have the chance to select a traditional dance and learn its steps under the guidance of a digital dance teacher. After the learning stage is completed, visitors are invited to dance, while actively participating in the dance process and go through a unique experience as part of the dance ensemble.
